A Traditional Courtyard
With space at the premium and the design being constructed for sale, our response was to avoid polarising the space towards prospective buyers. Simplicity and consistency in materials and depth in planting aimed to maximise the small rear courtyard and siding; screening services where possible but maximising focal points from within the house.
Cable-lines to support Star Jasmine with central decorative inlay’s added focal points along an otherwise blank boundary wall providing interest and additional greenery. Simple layering decorative panels forward of vegetation gives certain boundary lines depth and aims to make the garden larger then it appears.
The rear courtyard was paved with a central alternative material to avoid leaving the space too empty and a timber daybed tucked into a garden bed to add further functionality and interest.
