A Package for Martha
Paying homage to influential American Landscape Architect and Artist Martha Schwartz this quirky installation in the form of a boxed garden was packed, ready to be sent to the famous designer from JSG. The garden highlighted items commonly associated with the work of Schwartz such as bold materials, clean composition and replicated ornamentation; suspended dry climate planters were packaged, quite literally, to create a distinctly Australian suburbanesque garden feel. The display, viewed through cut outs set into the walls, provided a sense of intrigue and asked visitors to approach and explore both the physical garden itself but also their notion of what a garden is or isn’t, whilst looking outside the box (quite literally in fact).
